AVATAR!!!! The hype is totally right, this film is AMAZING!! Not only is the Digital 3D stunning, but the film is action packed and so interesing.
Your simply gripped from the word go, and once it gets into the Na'vi and how they live, your glued to your chair, even if your desperate for the loo. Being a long film, and something you don't want to miss, you are bound to need the toilet part way through.
My local Showcase Cinema do premier seats, which isn't just seating, its also free food and the seats are amazingly plush ones seperate to everyone else. As we knew Avatar would be crowded, we thought we'd pay the extra and enjoy not fighting our way through a huge crowd for good seats.
It was so worth it, the food we were given meant we didn't have to buy any, the seats were basically leather sofas with lots of room and a little side table for you plate of goodies and of course, being shown the private way into the screeing was rather nice, we felt like VIPs =)
But anyway, back to the film. Everyone should see this, if just for the experience. I think most people will like this film, and with 11 years in the making, I bet director James Cameron is happy it hasn't disappointed, a flop after that much time, effort and money went into it would have been devastating.
The film is about a planet, which has a very valuable substance on it. The human race is attempting to collect this to sell it and be rich, the army have set up camp on this planet and are fighting the planets species, the Na'vi, who of course are protecting and defending their lands.
As well as the army, scientists have developed a Na'vi body for people to use as avatars and infultrate the Na'vi's, learning their way of life and any thing else they can. In Jake's case, he uses it to tell the colonel weak points in the Na'vi's collony, so he can use this information to destroy their home and take the expensive substance.
Jake soon comes to respect the Na'vi and regrets his allegence with the colonel, he tries to help them but is branded a traitor until he proves to them that he is on their side. This story has action, love, and even new creatures and nature due to how the Na'vi live and nurtue their land.
Its definately the best film I've seen in a fair while. Go and see it in 3D for the full experience while you can =)
